Create a Facebook Timeline Banner

This post aims to help you create awesome Timeline Banners for your Facebook page.
There are several sections to it, just follow each one, click on the images to see them larger.
If you have any questions just let me know in the comments.

Firstly we need to create a specific crop ratio.
  1. Select an image (any image will do)
  2. Double click it to open the edit section
  3. Click "Crop"
  4. On the "Crop" tab, click the drop down menu and scroll to the very bottom until you see "Add Custom Aspect Ratio..."
  5. Click "Add Custom Aspect Ratio..." and when the pop up box appears enter these ratios: 851 width - 315 height, then call it "Facebook Timeline" and save
You now have the correct crop to use for your Timeline images

Secondly
  1. Choose the image you want to use for your Timeline
  2. Double click it to open the edit section
  3. Click "Crop", choose "Facebook Timeline" in the Custom Aspect Ratios section and draw a box on your image
  4. When you are happy with your crop click "Apply"

Thirdly
Export your image to the desktop with an image size of 851 pixels

That's it done!

All you need to do now is to upload it to Facebook and start using it...

If you have any questions just ask.

Hi Walter
Thanks for the comment.
Once you have created your timeline image, export it to a folder on your desktop.
Once you have exported it, simply go back to the image in Picasa and "UNDO" all of the edits/changes you made.
This will give you your original image back, and a timeline image as well.

Any chance you could provide a more advanced tutorial to illustrate how to integrate the timeline photo with the profile photo?

i.e. http://edudemic.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/facebook-timeline-cover-hack-lev-detrez.jpg

Hmmm….you’ve got me thinking. Are you sure that freelancing is a worthwhile job? Simply put…is it even a `real job’? Your blog is sure to convince even the hardest of skeptics. Maybe it’s time to take a break. There is too much stress around me and I am grateful to you for showing me the way out. Freelancer – it does sound good on my tongue. And you are also telling me that I can make more money from home? I did check on sites like Professional Logo Design, facebook banner design
which are top-listed heavenly places for the freelancing crowd. They are quite genuine. Finally, I have come to a decision. It is time to move on…as a freelancer!
